The Montgomery County Republican Committee (MCRC) has missed an Oct. 28 deadline to submit its campaign finance reports to the county's Elections Board.
Joseph Passarella, head of Montgomery County Voter Services, confirmed by telephone Tuesday morning that the MCRC had not yet filed the required documentation of its finances.
Brittany Tressler, executive director of the MCRC, said when reached by telephone shortly before noon that she "would drop off another copy right now."
The chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee, Marcel Groen, accused the MCRC of "hiding something."
"Campaign finance laws are there to make sure the public knows from whom the candidates and the parties raise their money, and how they spend it. To thumb your nose at the law and the voters like that is just plain wrong," Groen said in a statement sent to the media Tuesday morning.
Under the Campaign Finance Reporting Law, parties filing late reports are assessed a late fee of $20 per day for the first six days the report is late, and $10 for each additional day, up to a maximum of $250.
