Rider, A 2008 graduate, scored the game-winning run Monday night to eliminate top-ranked University of Florida. Entering today's action, Kent State is one of five teams remaining in tournament play.
Rider, a shortstop, is the Mid-American Conference's all-time hits leader with 353 hits. On Monday, he had two singles and a double for his team-leading, 32nd, multi-hit game of the season. Also, he extended his single-season records for hits (106) and doubles (30).
Tonight might be the biggest challenge for Kent State, as the team plays two-time defending champion South Carolina.
