Fire At Broad Street Church Under Control: Philly Fire Dept

The fire broke out at about 2:44 p.m. at a church on Broad Street between Jefferson and Oxford, the Philadelphia Fire Department said.

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Fire Department said a massive fire at a church on Broad Street in North Philadelphia has been placed under control at about 4:15 p.m. Thursday.

The fire, which was raised from two alarms to three before being placed under control, broke out at about 2:44 p.m. at The Original Apostolic Faith Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Inc located on Broad between Jefferson and Oxford streets, the fire department said.

About 50 apparatus and 120 firefighters responded to the scene, the fire department said.

Officials are urging drivers to avoid the area and have closed Broad between Cecil B Moore and Thompson as crews battle the blaze.

Smoke from the fire could be seen from blocks away.
