Dead Body On Ben Franklin Bridge Snarls Thursday Morning Commutes
A man was found dead on the Ben Franklin Bridge Thursday morning, closing all eastbound lanes as authorities investigated the scene.
PHILADELPHIA — Traffic on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge for Thursday morning's commute was halted due to a man's dead body being found on it, according to officials.
The body was found just before 5 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the bridge, the Delaware River Port Authority said.
The decedent's identity has not been confirmed, and the Delaware River Port Authority Police Department and the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the death.

At about 7 a.m. Thursday, the Delaware River Port Authority at about 7 a.m. alerted drivers to heavy delays on westbound lanes of the bridge due to the police activity.
By about 9:10 a.m., the authority said all eastbound lanes of the bridge closed, while only one westbound lane remained open due to the police activity.

Shortly thereafter, the authority announced all lanes in both directions had reopened.
