Driver Dead After Garbage Truck Hits Allegheny County Homes: Police

A man died after the garbage truck he was driving tipped over and hit two homes in Allegheny County around 4 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

WILMERDING, PA — A garbage truck driver is dead after his truck hit two homes early Tuesday morning in Wilmerding, Allegheny County police said.

The driver was trying to turn onto Patton Street from Jefferson Street when the truck tipped over and smashed into the homes shortly before 4 a.m. County police said there were people inside one of the homes, but they were uninjured.

First responders said the 47-year-old man was dead at the scene.

Officials have not yet identified the man who died.

County police ask anyone with more information about the crash to call their tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

The garbage truck was a Big's Sanitation vehicle, local media reported.
