Man Found Dead In Pittsburgh Convention Center Water Display

The body was discovered Monday morning, police said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A man was found dead Monday in the water feature of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Police were summoned to the scene Monday morning following reports of an unresponsive adult in the water feature. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

The water feature was constructed on either side of the center's pedestrian walkway. The walkway is located under the center, descending 17 feet with waterfalls and fountain pools on either side.

The water for the attraction comes from Pittsburgh's fourth river — an aquifer located 50 feet under the Convention Center. The walls surrounding the path flow with water, while the LED overhead lighting creates an extraordinary visual effect.
