Two Killed In Avalon House Fire
The fire occurred overnight and included a dramatic police rescue.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Two people perished in an overnight house fire in suburban Avalon. Two other people were rescued from the burning home.
The fire broke out about 3:30 a.m. at a house on Marie Avenue.
“Upon arrival, there was heavy fire on the second and third floor,”Avalon Volunteer Fire Department Chief Charles Berie told WPXI-TV. “Avalon Police started pulling out some of the victims and their pets. They did a phenomenal job.”

The two people rescued were on the first floor of the home, while the victims were on the upper floors.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
