You better bundle up this week as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to move into Pittsburgh. There is also a chance of snow Monday and Tuesday in the Plum-Oakmont area.

You better bundle up this week as bitterly cold temperatures are expected to move into the Pittsburgh area.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for the Plum-Oakmont area, which is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A hazardous weather outlook for the Plum-Oakmont area also has been issued. Arctic air with wind chills of 10 to 20 degrees below zero are likely Monday night/Tuesday morning and Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Cold temperatures could result in frost bite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must go outdoors, dress appropriately.

Here's a look at the forecast:

  • Monday—Snow. High near 24. Southwest wind 6 to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Monday Night—Snow likely, mainly before 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 7. Wind chill values as low as -10. West wind 11 to 18 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 28 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Tuesday—A chance of snow showers, mainly before 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 11. Wind chill values as low as -12. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 20 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
  • Tuesday Night—A slight chance of snow showers before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 5. West wind 13 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • Wednesday—Partly sunny, with a high near 18.
  • Wednesday Night—Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13.
