Boyertown's Studio B Welcomes Community to Meet Local Published Writers

Studio B, 39A East Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown, PA, welcomes the community to enjoy an event featuring local published writers Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

Writers who will be participating in the event are Annarose Ingarra-Milch, Cat Mahoney, Matty Dalrymple, Marilyn Klimcho, Dennis Heller, Andy Schön, Craig Bennett, and Elizabeth Bodien.

Authors will read portions of their published works, share their publishing experiences, offer their work for sale and autograph copies as requested. An opportunity for dialogue with the writers will follow the readings.

Bob Wood, Studio B’s Gallery Adjunct, will serve as host for the event. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public. Donations are happily accepted.

“Artists who write enjoy sharing their work with other lovers of the written word,” noted Jane Stahl, Studio B’s Director of Community Relations. “Our exhibit Layers of Language: Stories in Words and Images seemed a perfect time to offer the community a chance to meet some of our area’s talented writers and perhaps inspire greater participation in writing groups or book sharing. Studio B’s mission includes the visual and communication arts, and we’re eager to increase our community’s involvement in reading and writing,” she concluded.

Craig Bennett

Craig’s memoir, Nights on the Mountain, consists primarily of the interior monologue of a man seriously contemplating a permanent relocation to Europe while backpacking in Washington’s North Cascades. It is a book that is intended to provoke thought, challenge assumptions, and draw the reader into a closer examination of the values that most strongly inform the way we live our lives in contemporary America.

Elizabeth Bodien

Elizabeth grew up in the “burned-over” district of western New York State but lives now in the Ontelaunee River watershed near Hawk Mountain, PA. Bodien has worked as a teacher of English in Japan, an organic farmer in the coastal mountains of Oregon, a childbirth instructor in West Africa, and a Montessori teacher in California, and holds degrees in cultural anthropology, consciousness studies, and the history and phenomenology of religion. Her poems have appeared in The Litchfield Review, The Fourth River, Cimarron Review, U.S.1 Worksheets, and Parabola among other publications in the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and India. Her collections are the award-winning chapbook Plumb Lines (Plan B Press), Rough Terrain: Notes of an Undutiful Daughter (FootHills Publishing) about her mother’s decline with Alzheimer’s, and Endpapers (Finishing Line Press). Bodien has appeared on TV and radio with her poetry. Matty Dalrymple

Matty Dalrymple is the author of The Sense of Death, a suspense novel featuring spirit senser Ann Kinnear; much of the novel takes place in Philadelphia, Wilmington, and Chester County. Matty is currently at work on the sequel, The Sense of Reckoning, which involves the fires that burned large portions of Mt. Desert Island, Maine and Bar Harbor in 1947. Matty is a member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the Brandywine Valley Writers Group. Matty lives with her husband, Wade Walton, and their dogs in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Dennis Heller

Dennis Heller, born and raised in Boyertown, PA, is an accountant who, after 11 years of hiking, had a story in his head that had to come out. The result is his book More Than One Way in which shares his story to entertain and inspire others to stay active, keep healthy, and try new things. He continues to hike the Appalachian Trail and plans to complete it.

Marilyn Klimcho

Marilyn Klimcho graduated from Kutztown College with a degree in English. Treasurer of Berks Bards, Inc. a grassroots poetry group centered in Reading., her work has been published in the Schuylkill Valley Journal and received a nomination for a Pushcart Prize. She has published a book of poetry titled: The Ceremony of Great Age, and expects to publish a second volume titled: LandScrapes and Muses, with Foothills Publishing.

Catherine Mahony

Catherine Mahony’s first chapbook, Prior Restraints, brings the hopeful message of recovery from addiction through Mahony’s own experiences, from her time as a homeless heroin addict to a psychiatric ward inpatient to a college graduate with many accomplishments and a fulfilled life. Mahony offers a therapeutic writing program to prison inmates and patients in treatment facilities. She has shared her story at recovery facilities and with female inmates at Berks County Prison. All proceeds from the book will be used to assist addicts and alcoholics on their paths to recovery.

Annarose Ingarra-Milch

Annarose Ingarra-Milch is the author of the award winning novel Lunch with Lucille, an inspirational story with a life-affirming message that we all need to hear – you are your best asset, at any age. Although a work of fiction, “Lucille” is based closely on the author’s mother - a woman with style, wit and a strong sense of purpose. Andy Schön

Andy Schön is a 1996 graduate of Boyertown Area High School. He holds degrees in philosophy and computer science from Columbia University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also a graduate of New York Film Academy, and has studied photography at the Rhode Island School of Design. Fifteen Times around the World: A Lion Bit Me in Zimbabwe, and Other Travel Adventures uses 87 photographs and brief stories to chronicle the most notable highlights of eight years of travel across 40 countries and all seven continents. It is a brief, yet comprehensive, snapshot of our planet at the dawn of the 21st century, educational and suitable for kids of all ages, and adults.

Studio B:

Studio B, located in the heart of historic Boyertown, is the home of the Arts and Activities Alliance, a committee of Building a Better Boyertown, a nonprofit Main Street program dedicated to revitalizing small towns.

Studio B celebrates lifelong learning, creativity and personal involvement in the visual and literary arts, offers opportunities to enhance creativity, health, and wellness through the arts and seeks to be a dynamic part of Boyertown community, a “go to” destination for learning, fun and friendship. The studio seeks to showcase the work of fine artists in themed exhibits—some juried, some open to all—and welcomes art in diverse media. In addition to art exhibits and classes, Studio B also hosts catered dinners for service clubs and small groups, gallery talks, and “Getting to Know You” opportunities like Bob Wood’s Second Friday night Art-ful Conversations a.k.a. Cheap Date Nights.

Visitors are always welcome to view the changing exhibits; take lessons in the visual, literary, and communication arts offered by highly-trained local artists and teachers; and schedule small events or parties in its elegant facility. The studio proudly collaborates with brother/sister galleries and art-related businesses.
