Teen Shoots Self in Foot After Early Morning Robbery

A Pottstown teen was hospitalized with a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the foot early Saturday morning, following an alleged botched getaway from an otherwise successful robbery along the 100 block of Dean Street in West Chester.

According to a report by the Pottstown Mercury,  Jacob Loppe, 17, allegedly robbed a 21-year-old man at gunpoint near the intersection of Dean Street and Church Street around 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. The victim told police that he heard a gunshot shortly after the incident, and police would later find Loppe at the Chester County Hospital, where he was being treated for a gunshot wound to the foot.

Loppe was arraigned as an adult on felony robbery charges, and he is currently in custody at the Chester County Prison after failing to post $40,000 cash bail.
