Local Students Nominated to Service Academies

Local high school students have been nominated to United States' service academies.

"Each of these students has demonstrated tremendous potential for achievement and leadership. Our nation is blessed to have so many fine young men and women with the desire to serve, and I have no doubt that they will become great assets to our our country's uniformed services," said Congressman Patrick Meehan (PA-07).

Lauren E. Casulli -- Academy of Notre Dame de Namur

United States Air Force Academy

United State Naval Academy

John B. Parker -- Archbishop John Carroll High School

To assist in the nomination process, Rep. Meehan appointed local distinguished community members with a military background to a nonpartisan Academy Advisory Board. Nominees are selected based on factors such as academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, physical aptitude, character and motivation. The nomination from Rep. Meehan does not guarantee admission to a service academy. The academies’ respective admissions boards decide who is offered appointment, and ultimately admitted.
