Manayunk Republican Running to Represent PA's 194th District

Manayunk resident William Pounds has formally entered the race as the Republican candidate for the state House of Representatives.

Pounds is looking to represent the 194th District, which includes all of Roxborough’s 21st Ward, East Falls, Manayunk and parts of Lower Merion. The seat is currently held by Democrat Pamela DeLissio.

Pounds, 29, is “not your grandfather’s Republican,” according to his campaign website bio. Pounds is a social worker for the city’s Community Umbrella Agency, where he ensures that proper services are delivered to children living in homes previously investigated for abuse.

“Young, spirited, and fiercely committed to his ideals, he is the rarest of modern political candidates, with a firm grasp of the many difficult issues currently facing our city, an inherent belief in social justice, and a firsthand understanding of the complex fiscal realities and responsibilities necessary to get Philadelphia back on track,” his bio says.
