Blotter: Wallet Stolen While Waiting to See Santa

Plus: A chandelier and wall sconces were stolen from a vacant home.

The following information was supplied by the Springfield Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen Property—1300 block of Baltimore Pike between Nov. 22 and 26. A resident reported that someone entered her residence and stole a silver chandelier and eight wall sconces from the dining room of the home. The home had been left vacant after the eviction of the tenants. The loss was in excess of $3,000. There were no signs of any forced entry.

Stolen Property—300 block of Sedgewood Road at about 6:31 p.m. on Nov. 29. A Springfield resident reported that sometime during the night someone stole a black and red colored Huffy Mountain Bike from the front lawn of a home. The bike was valued in excess of $200.

Retail Theft—Macy's at about 1:03 p.m. on Dec. 1. Store security reported that a black man fled the store without paying for an iPhone cover. The area was checked but the man was gone. The cover was valued at $38.

Theft—Springfield Mall between 4 and 4:35 p.m. on Dec. 1. A Havertown resident reported that someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was at the mall. The purse had been hanging on the baby stroller while they were in the line to have pictures taken with Santa Claus. The wallet contained various forms of identification, cash and credit cards. One of her credit cards had been used at a local store before it could be cancelled. The incident is under investigation by Detective Bridget McCarthy.
