Former Norristown Police Chief Publicly Sworn in as Montco Sherrif
Russell Bono, the former police chief of Norristown, on Friday was publicly sworn in as sheriff of Montgomery County by Court of Common Pleas Judge Carolyn Carluccio.

Bono, who was nominated by Gov. Tom Corbett to replace Eileen Whalon Behr, was sworn in privately in March immediately following his confirmation by the state Senate.

Bono was with the Norristown Police Department for 42 years, spending his last 15 as its chief. He retired from that position in February 2013.

“Russell Bono’s dedication to protecting and serving the people of Montgomery County make him a natural choice for Sheriff,” Corbett said at the time of Bono's nomination. “He has a long history of public service and I am confident in the job he will do as Montgomery County Sheriff.”
