The old Roth Carpet building in Mt. Lebanon is finally being demolished to make way for The Fresh Market grocery store.
Demolition crews were at the property along Route 19 this past week ripping down the existing building with excavators and hauling off the debris in dump trucks.
The property will be the site of The Fresh Market grocery store that offers “an old-style butcher shop and fish market, bakery, produce and floral stands.”
A company spokeswoman said a lease has been signed for the location, but an opening date has not been set. She could not comment on the construction timeline, but said it is expected to begin relatively soon.
According to The Fresh Market website, the store would convey an atmosphere of an old world European market with an old-style butcher shop and fish market, bakery, produce and floral stands, and delicatessen. According to representatives, there would also be an outdoor dining area for customers in front of the store at the Mt. Lebanon location.
“From bountiful produce and a full-service meat counter to convenient prepared foods and an in-store baker, customers will discover that our stores are committed to variety, freshness and value as well as superior customer service,” president and CEO Craig Carlock said.
