WEGO Announces Promotions Despite Contract Dispute

The Daily Local reports that the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department promoted three officers to clarify chain of command and to aid in the ongoing negotiations.

The Daily Local Reports:

Detective Sgt. William Cahill and Sgt. Jim DiCave were both promoted to lieutenant, and Detective Glenn Bretz was promoted to detective sergeant at a public meeting of the Westtown-East Goshen Police Commission.

The Daily Local continues:

Cahill and DiCave, as lieutenants, will no longer hold membership in the Westtown-East Goshen Police Association, the bargaining body of the department’s officers. Officers with a rank of lieutenant and above negotiate wages and benefits separately from the Police Association.
The promotions were recommended by Interim Chief Eugene Dooley, who said the moves were designed to create a more structured chain of command and improve communication within the department. Dooley is the permanent police chief of the East Whiteland Police Department, but was appointed as Westtown-East Goshen’s interim chief when former Chief John Dummond retired in late July.
