West Chester Gets Historic $250K Gift For Multicultural Center
West Chester University announced Friday that they had received a historic $250,000 donation.

WEST CHESTER, PA
West Chester University has received a $250,000 gift to empower its multicultural center, the school announced Friday in a news release.
The gift, from Student Services Incorporated, is the largest the school has ever received to support diversity programs, the release states.

The new center will be named the Lawrence A. Dowdy Multicultural Center and will provide funding to expand programs and create new initiatives, the school said. Students will be able to travel to new conferences, study abroad, and receive more professional and educational development, among other benefits.
Larry Dowdy received undergraduate and graduate degrees from West Chester, held a number of leadership positions as an employee, and retired after 30 years as executive deputy to the president and governmental relations officer.

The center will be dedicated October 21 at 4 p.m.
