'Cool' Pic of Country After the Storm
Rhode Islanders aren't alone in their frigid misery. The storm dumped snow across a huge swath of the country, from the Midwest through New England, as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration demonstrated with a dramatic satellite photo it released Thursday.
After the clouds dissipated and the frigid temperatures — dipping into the single digits in many spots Thursday — set in, the NOAA had a clear view from space of the storm's aftermath. The satellite photo shows the eastern portion of the country covered in a blanket of white.
The frozen white blanket is sure to stick around for a while, and another layer may even be added. Freezing temperatures are expected to continue for at least the next week, according to the National Weather Service, and snow showers are possible across the region Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
