Tom Brady 'Arrested' in RI for Giving Candy to Child

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made a surprise visit to CVS headquarters in Woonsocket to promote a new brand of candy and got a little surprise himself in this YouTube video.

New England Patriots
quarterback Tom Brady has stared down plenty of NFL defenses en route to five Super Bowl appearances and three championships over the course of his illustrious 12-year career.

But could he stand up to the pressures of a staring contest against CVS customers?

Brady teamed up with to surprise a handful of customers in Woonsocket June 7 to participate in a staring contest to help promote "Unreal," a new brand of healthy candy, according to NESN.com.

What's even better about this contest? It was published on YouTube by CVS and is yet another entertaining performance in front of the camera turned in by TB12.

In the video, the Patriots' star sits behind a curtain and waits to be revealed to customers sitting on the other side of the curtain. CVS customers were told they would compete in a staring contest but they did not know who it would be ... until the curtain fell.

Then Brady and the customer in the hot seat engaged in a staring contest and Brady tells the camera he was feeling some heat.

"This is harder than I thought," Brady says. "Oh my God, this is like the Super Bowl of staring contests."

The reactions to seeing Brady revealed are amusing but it's what happens to Brady when he starts handing out candy outside of the pharmacy that makes this video an instant YouTube classic: Brady is "arrested" by Woonsocket Police officers Linden Karsner and Daniel Lajoie, said Woonsocket Police Det. Sgt. Matt Ryan.

Ryan said the two officers happened to be on duty when the commercial producers asked if the Woonsocket Police would participate. He said they wanted a female officer to make the "arrest."

"It was just a commercial," Ryan said — Brady wasn't really arrested. "It was tongue in cheek."
