Church Services Cancelled, City Digs Out after First Major Storm [PHOTOS]

The first major snowfall of the area brought seven- to nine-inches of snow to Cranston.

The first major snowfall of the area brought about eight inches of snow to Cranston.

The snow has prompted a few local Churches to cancel Sunday services and the Cranston Public Library will not have Sunday hours.

In Cranston, a number of local churches cancelled Sunday services, according to the RI Broadcasters closings and cancellations network.

They are:

  • Woodridge Congregational UCC
  • Faith Presbyterian
  • Armenian Evangelical Church
  • Church of the Transfiguration
  • Word & Prayer Fellowship
  • People's Baptist Church

A parking ban remains in effect until noon today.

Roads remain dangerous this morning as many secondary roads haven't been plowed yet or still have a covering of snow.

A high wind watch is in effect today, so officials are encouraging people to watch for falling limbs and power lines as the heavy snow weighs down on trees and the power grid. There's a chance of power outages as the wind picks up during the day.

How much snow did you get? Did your street get plowed yet?

Be sure to upload your storm photos to the Patch. Click on "Upload Photos and Videos" to post yours.

This story has been updated to add closings as they occur.
