Police said Montrell Hopper, 19, of Providence, robbed Ocean State Market at gunpoint last month.

The man wanted for a brazen armed robbery of Ocean State Market on Dyer Avenue last month has turned himself in to police.

Cranston Police said Montrell Hopper, 19, of Providence, turned himself into Providence Police on Sunday.

Police said Hopper,  who allegedly hopped over the counter at Ocean State Market while brandishing a handgun during the robbery, is was also wanted by Providence Police on first-degree robbery charges.

Police said Hopper made off with an undetermined amount of cash, a few packs of Newport cigarettes and was carrying a red gym bag, otherwise known as a "sling bag."

Hopper reportedly tried to rob a customer in the store as well, but he was unsuccessful.

Police said Hopper took off running towards Farmington Avenue after the robbery.

Hopper is facing two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of use of a firearm while committing a crime of violence and carrying a pistol without a permit.
