Resolution would Limit School Committee Terms

A resolution on the Cranston City Council agenda next week proposes term limits for School Committee members.

The resolution, sponsored by Councilman Don Botts, asks the Secretary of State to put on the ballot a measure that would modify the Home Rule Charter, limiting School Committee Members to a maximum of five, two-year terms.

According to the resolution, "no person who has been duly sworn as a member of the School Committee effective with the election of November, 2014, shall be elected to said office for more than five consecutive two year terms."
