The following announcement was put out by the town at 7 p.m. Thursday:
This is an important severe weather announcement by the Town of East Greenwich about the approaching storm.
The town is recommending that all residents stay off the roads. In an emergency situation, please contact police or fire for assistance or dial 911. Also a reminder to keep all pets inside.
A parking ban will be in effect and strictly enforced from Friday at noon through Saturday at 6 p.m.
Friday's trash pick-up is still on schedule but we ask that you place your garbage cans out tonight and bring them in as early as possible on Friday, once your pick-up is complete.
Transfer station will be closed on Saturday, Feb. 9.
Town Hall will be closing mid-day Friday.
East Greenwich schools have been cancelled for Friday.
The Red Cross has established a regional shelter for East Greenwich residents at Warwick Veterans High School. The East Greenwich Police Department community room is a staging area for residents seeking shelter, warming and who are unable to get to the regional shelter on their own.
Residents with special health issues (such as oxygen) can contact the EG Fire District at 884-4211 or the Police Department at 401-884-2244.
