Week In Review: Station, Jeep, Playoffs

It's your look back at news on JohnstonPatch for the week ending Feb. 23, 2012.

Week In Review: Station, Jeep, Playoffs

Station: The week started with our coverage of the Ninth Annual Station Fire Memorial, held last Sunday in West Warwick. Nearly 200 people attended the ceremony to mark the fourth-largest club fire in U.S. history that claimed 100 lives.

Jeep: We posted our first-ever car review last Monday in honor of the big President's Day kickoff to the spring car buying season. Metro Dodge-Jeep-Chrysler loaned a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Edition — click here to check out the review.

Playoffs: Just as they did last year, all three Johnston High School varsity winter teams wound down their regular seasons with playoffs in their sights. Also, JHS has an eighth name to add to the 1,000-point banner: junior Evan Hopson cleared the millenium mark just two weeks after .

PR: Looking to get your business know to local customers? The North Central Chamber of Commerce is hosting a "Business Boosters" roundtable — featuring yours truly and members of area media outlets — on March 1 at Ribs & Company. Tix are $15.

Not LOL: Johnston Police reported that the driver in a Feb. 15 accident that involved a school bus denied he was texting before the crash, after the bus driver told police she'd spoken to a witness who claimed the Corolla driver was using his phone.
