Disorderly conduct and resisting arrest

George M. Friedlander, 23, of 250 College Park Road, Fall River, MA, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest report, a patrol officer stopped the car Friedlander was driving on the 80 Block of Valley Road after observing a headlight out, loud exhaust and the car switch lanes without using a turn signal, nearly cutting off the police cruiser.

During the car stop, Friedlander told the officer he was on his way to drop off a birthday gift for a girlfriend and appeared nervous and avoided eye contact as they spoke. The police officer observed extremely bloodshot and dilated eyes and when asked if he had done narcotics that evening, Friedlander refused to answer. When the police officer asked him to step outside the vehicle, he allegedly refused to turn off his car and began yelling that he was protected under the Constitution.

When Friedlander finally got out of his car, he allegedly jumped out with his fists clenched and as the police officer restrained him, he struggled to get free. He was cuffed, restrained and placed in the cruiser as a second police officer arrived. Friedlander suffered a cut lip but refused medical treatment.

A search of his car turned up no narcotics and he was processed at the Middletown Police Station without further incident. He was also cited for the headlight, turn signal and muffler violations.

Domestic vandalism

Salvatore Schepici, 50, of 4 High St., Middletown, was arrested around 1:19 p.m. Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic vandalism.

According to the arrest report, police responded to a domestic incident on High Street that involved Schepici and a 48-year-old Middletown woman. The woman alleged that Schepici broke her laptop computer over his knee as they argued over it during a divorce dispute.

Schepici, who was stopped in the woman’s car at the intersection of Green End Avenue and Miantonomi Avenue, told police that they were having a tug-of-war over the computer when it broke.

Marijuana possession

Zachary Kennedy, 19, of unknown address, Middletown, was arrested around 3:21 a.m. Thursday on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.

According to the arrest report, a police officer on patrol observed Kennedy sitting on a bench outside and asked him why he was there at such a late hour. Kennedy responded that he was waiting for his girlfriend and as they spoke, the police officer noticed the remnants of a cigar at his feet.

The police officer asked Kennedy if he had emptied a cigar because marijuana is commonly smoked in hollowed out cigars. Kennedy did not answer at first and before the police officer could perform a pat down search, Kennedy informed him that he had a plastic bag with marijuana in his shorts pocket. Kennedy was arrested without incident.
