Shameless self-promotion alert! Make your Good Friday a Very Good Friday by attending my office hour from noon to 1 p.m. Right now, I’m planning on being at the Coffee and Bagel Connection in Bonnet Shores. Feel free to swing by if you’d like to meet the guy behind Narragansett-South Kingstown Patch, or as the kids call me, Steve Patch or Mr. Patch.

Or you can actually celebrate, you know, that religious stuff. For Good Friday, the Lutheran Church of the God Shepard will be providing a playing of Bach's St. Matthew Passion at 7 p.m. For more info, click here.

The Artist Formerly Known as the South Kingstown Chamber of Commerce. The Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a “first Friday” coffee event at the Village Inn on Beach Street in Narragansett from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Admission is $5. For more info, click .

Spoilet Alert: We won. On this day in 1917, the United States declared war on Germany in World War I.

LOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! Today is the 40th birthday of former Red Sox – well, let's be honest, mostly Pawsox – infield Lou Merloni. You can wish him a happy birthday by calling (888) 525-0850 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., since he's one half of WEEI's Mut and Merloni sports radio show.
