Police Log: Highway Collision Leads To DUI Arrest
The following arrest information was supplied by the South Kingstown Police Department and describes their actions from Wednesday, July 6 through the early morning hours of Friday, July 8. These reports do not indicate a conviction.

On Thursday, July 7 around 5 p.m. South Kingstown Police officers were called to a reported motor vehicle accident on Route 1 Northbound at the intersection of Matunuck Beach Road. Officers arrived on the scene and found a pickup truck in the median that had sustained heavy disabling damage. After speaking with the other driver in the accident police learned that the driver of the pickup, later identified as Tyler Phelan, 25, of 19 Eldred Ct. in Wakefield, had attempted to cross the traffic lanes on Route 1 to reach the southbound turnaround when the two vehicles struck each other.
Phelan stated he was leaving the Ocean Mist lounge prior to the accident and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests, which he allegedly did not perform to the satisfaction of the officer. He was taken to SKPD, where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, first offense, with a BAC of .15 percent or greater. He was later released with a Fourth District Court summons.

On Thursday, July 7 around 9:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to a Post Road residence in Perryville for a complaint of stolen items. The homeowner stated her son Dylan Harris, 20, of 8 North Road had taken a large amount of antique coins from her possession. Later that night officers on stationary post on Dale Carlia Road located Harris riding his bicycle. A database check confirmed that he was also wanted for failure to appear in Fourth District Court for a domestic assault charge. He was taken to SKPD and processed without incident.
A 16-year-old South Kingstown male was arrested on Wednesday, July 6 around 10:33 p.m. for possession of marijuana after police found several youths smoking behind Liberty Rentals. The youth was taken to SKPD, processed, and released with a court summons later that evening.

Incidents
On Thursday, July 7 around 10:30 p.m. police received a complaint of vandalism to a motor vehicle. The complainant stated that someone known to her had thrown a rock through her rear passenger window earlier that evening. Police are following up on a possible lead at this time.
