NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. - General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo recently met with parents of South County Head Start students to discuss the program and inform them of financial resources provided by the Capital Good Fund. Raimondo praised the Head Start program for its dedication to supporting youth, and also explained to parents the benefits of meeting individually with a coach from the Financial Coaching Corps.
“Finding ways to encourage financial empowerment is a priority for me,” said Raimondo. “The Head Start program is a terrific support system for children and their families, and it is important for the parents to know that additional resources such as the Financial Coaching Corps are available to them. Meeting one-on-one with a coach can help parents make smart financial decisions that benefit the entire family.”
Head Startis a federal program operated by local nonprofit organizations. The program serves children up to five years old and their families. Children participate in educational activities and receive free medical and dental care.
The Financial Coaching Corps is a partnership between Treasurer Raimondo and the Capital Good Fund launched to empower Rhode Islanders to take charge of their finances. Coaches offer free individual coaching to Rhode Islanders looking to gain a better understanding of personal finance.
