Car Burst Into Flames On Pell Bridge In Newport
The woman driving noticed a burning smell coming from her car and pulled over to try and flag down a motorist for help.

NEWPORT, RI — A Toyota Prius burst into flames on the westbound lane of the Pell Bridge which, temporarily shut down the bridge and created massive traffic delays Monday afternoon.
The driver was the only one in the car and was not hurt, State Police Sgt. Greg Cunningham told theNewport Daily News.
The woman driving noticed a burning smell coming from her car and pulled over, Cunningham said. She then got the attention of another person driving on the bridge and got a ride to the tolls to call 911.

What caused the car to burst into flames is not known at this time.
