Newport Woman Charged with Cyberstalking

Police said the woman allegedly sent a series of taunting and threatening emails to another woman over a mutual love interest.

A 40-year-old Newport Woman has been charged with cyberstalking after she allegedly sent another woman a series of threatening emails.

Police said Nciole D. Scardigno, 40, of 40 Corne St., Newport, was arrested Tuesday after an investigation into the emails, which began earlier this month.

The victim reported the emails on Jan. 7 and provided police with copies. In the messages, Scardigno allegedly threatned to ruin the woman’s career and otherwise make her life miserable.

Taunts included calling the victim ”crazy,” “white trash,” and “catpiss girl,” according to a police report.

Police eventually concluded that Scardigno was the sender of the emails after an investigation.

Police said Scardigno admitted sending the emails to the victim but insisted that she never meant any harm or planned on following through with any threat.

The emails were sent over a mutual love interest, police said.

Scardigno responded to police headquarters on Tuesday and was booked and released with a Jan. 28 District Court date.
