NewportFILM Presents: Finding Vivian Maier
She was an unknown but brilliant photographer who took thousands of pictures while working as a nanny, the world discovering her work just recently.
Maier took more than 100,000 photos that nobody ever saw has she lived and worked as a nanny.
Historian John Maloof discovered some of her photographs at an auction. That sparked a desire to put her life in perspective — and give her the attention and retrospective she deserves.
The screening is on Thursday night at the Newport Art Museum Ilgenfritz Gallery, 76 Bellevue Ave., Newport.
Cocktails and food is served at 6 p.m. and the movie is at 7 p.m.
Afterwards, the audience will stick around for a post-film Skype conversation with Director Charlie Siskel.
