The 's final weekend included two exciting days of polo matches in an unusual location.
For the third year in a row, the Newport Polo Club brought two matches to Atlantic Beach in Middletown as part of the annual festival.
More than 100 spectators lined the beach bordering Middletown and Newport to watch two teams face off in this special event.
With a Sunday afternoon temperature of 41 degrees, spectators bundled up under blankets and huddled together.
The Newport Polo Team won Sunday's match against the Newport Girls' Interscholastic team, which goes by the nickname "The Pink Ladies." The final score was 10 to 5.
“Polo in the summer is one of Newport’s hottest attractions. It is exciting to see the event in the winter, too,” said Kathryn Farrington of the Newport County Visitors & Convention Bureau. “Polo appeals to an audience of all ages, and like the beach, polo is great outdoor entertainment for the whole family!”
