Arthur J. Hardman of Wickford passed away this week at the age of 72.

The following information was provided by Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home.

Arthur J. Hardman of Wickford died peacefully at his home on Monday, Aug. 27 at the age of 72. Originally from New York City, he was the son of the late Arthur Ross Hardman and Rose (Miele) Hardman.

Hardman served in the US Army and Foreign Service before settling in San Francisco for 25 years, where he developed into an accomplished artist. In 1997, he moved back to the East Coast to Wickford, RI to . Most recently, he was employed by the . Hardman could often be seen kayaking through the harbor, riding his bike along Route 1A or holding court at over morning coffee.

Hardman was known for – from family to friends to neighbors – in need of conceptualizing, building, repairing or restoring. In his apartment overlooking Wickford, Hardman .

He leaves behind his two sisters Carol C. Crane of New York and Donna Hardman Dube of Saunderstown. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends around the world.

Friends and family are invited and may call on Friday, Aug. 31 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home. His burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
