Bristol Ferry Road Lane Change

I must start with complimenting Town Council for not only allowing a public forum for residents to present pros and cons last night, but more importantly responding with council action impacting the timing of a trial lane change and placement of the Mt Hope Bridge left turn signage at least a 1/4 mile from the bridge.

Those of us who feel strongly that the proposed change may create more problems than solve are grateful that the motion stated the trial period will be conducted during at least part of the "tourist season" (through 4th of July weekend) and while school is out of session (more inexperienced teenage drivers on the road). The anticipated gridlock that very likely will occur during peak evening  hours (4-6 PM) is to be monitored closely.

We foresee increased rear end collisions in the northbound lane, head on collisions of residents heading south attempting to make left turns into their driveways/neighborhoods, and a blocked intersection at Island Daycare, where 3 one lane northbound roads merge into a single lane on this 1.2 mile stretch.
