The Portsmouth High School wind turbine is a asset. There was one vote for
buying the turbine and bonding the turbine. That vote was approved by the voters
of Portsmouth. Any change or sale of the bonds and ownership of the turbine has
to go back to the voting public.
The Town Manager or the Town Council can't just give town assets to private
industry. This is not what the vote was for.
The Portsmouth Town Council has heard a number of possible outcomes for the
town's wind turbine. The turbine has been broken since May of 2012.
Special legislation allowed one vote by the residents of Portsmouth. That
legislation was for a 3 million dollar bond and a commercial wind turbine in one
package . "One Package"
