Tiverton Man Arrested For Knocking Woman Over With Car

A Tiverton man was charged with domestic felony assault after he allegedly bumped a woman with his car after she tried to get her car keys, then he drove away while she was reaching into his car.
James R. Reynolds, 32, of 79 Caribou Way, Tiverton, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14. He was charged with domestic felony assault, domestic vandalism, reckless driving and domestic disorderly conduct. He was arraigned in Second District Court in Newport on his charges.
According to Sgt. James Costa, police responded to Caribou Way for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were met with two witnesses and the victim of the incident.

Costa said the victim was in an alleged argument earlier in the day with Reynolds and left his residence by foot. The victim told police she came back later to retrieve her keys, and she was met by Reynolds and had an argument that escalated. Reynolds allegedly got into his car and revved his engine. Costa said Reynolds drove his car forward and backward in front of the victim and bumped her, knocking her over.
Costa said Reynolds allegedly got out the car to check on the victim, then got back in and put the car into drive. The victim got up, gave chase and reached into the car to get her keys.

Costa said Reynolds allegedly drove away while the victim was hanging out of the vehicle. She ended up letting go and falling onto the driveway and sustained some injuries.
Costa said the victim and witnesses came to the . Reynolds allegedly showed up to the station in his car and then drove off. Officers attempted to proceed on foot.
Costa said an officer located Reynolds on Stafford Road in Fall River. Fall River Police were contacted, located Reynolds, held him as a fugitive from justice and brought him back to Tiverton.
