New rules let residents mix paper recycling with other recyclables, bin schedule unchanged.

DPW Superintendent: Keep Blue/Green Bin Schedule, Mix Recyclables

New rules from the RI Resource Recovery collection program, “ Recycle Together”  allows for recyclables to be combined within the same cart, but Woonsocket's blue/green bin schedule is unchanged.

"Residents must continue to follow the blue/green recycling cart collection
schedule," reads a release from DPW Superintendent Mike Debroisse.

Debroisse said that while residents can now throw paper recycling in the same bin as their other recyclables, the city's waste hauler will only pick up green and blue bins on the city's original schedule.

So, he said, it doesn't matter what recyclables you put in which bin, but you've still got to use the right color bin on the correct day.

New program stickers are being printed that can be applied to the top of the recycle carts. Questions can be directed to the Solid Waste Division at (401) 767-8880.
