The party is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport to aid woman injured in Boston Marathon bombings.

Homecoming Party for Heather Abbott This Sunday

We are excited to announce that Newport Patch and The Newport Buzz have teamed up with family and friends of Newport resident Heather Abbott to host a welcome home party for Heather on Sunday, May 19, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Rosecliff Mansion in Newport.  It will be an afternoon of live music, food, cash bar and community.

The City of Newport will conduct a brief ceremony to honor and welcome Heather back to Newport.

After Heather was seriously injured in the Boston Marathon bombing, doctors were forced to remove her left leg from the knee down. Her smile and positive attitude has inspired not only the Newport community, but all Americans, as the country recovers from that tragic day.

The event is free and open to the public. An optional donation to the Heather Abbott Recovery Fund may be contributed at the door.  Capacity is limited and entry will be on a first-come, first-served bases.

Silent auction items may be dropped off at the Mayor’s office at Newport City Hall.  Media inquiries can be directed to Olga Enger at olga.enger@patch.com or 612.801.3251.

Other sponsors include the Preservation Society of Newport and Russell Morin Fine Catering, which have generously donated the historic mansion and catering services.
