UPDATE: Police Find Andre "Andy" Genereux, Deceased, In Blackstone River UPDATE: Police Find Andre "Andy" Genereux, Deceased, In Blackstone River

Update - 4:27 p.m. Woonsocket Police found the body of Andre "Andy" Genereux, 61, in the Blackstone River at River Island Park today at about 2 p.m., according to Woonsocket Police Public Information Officer Jamie Paone.

"It doesn't look suspicious," Paone said. She said two officers searching the area for Genereux made the discovery. A routine investigation will be made into Genereux's death, she said.

According to Google Maps, the walk from Genereux's home to River Island Park is about half a mile. Paone said that the water at the park is accesible to the public via steps and a boat ramp, but would still likely be treacherous for someone using a cane to walk, as Genereux did.

3:22 p.m. Police are searching for Andre "Andy" Genereux, 61, a stroke victim last seen taking a walk near his 31 Wilson Ave. home at about 11 a.m. this morning.

State Police have issued a Silver Alert for the man, who walks with a cane and is balding with gray hair on the sides, 180 lbs and 5'7" tall.

"We got the call around 12:22 p.m. today," said Woonsocket Police Det. Jamie Paone, public information officer for the department. She said Genereux's wife called to report him missing.

Paone said Genereaux answers to his nickname, Andy, but his stroke condition limits his speech. He can answer and understand questions, Paone said, but he can't hold a conversation.
