Special Election Tomorrow

Special Election Tomorrow
Though Democrat Michael Morin has the edge, he still has to win Tuesday's special election to officially claim Woonsocket's District 49 House seat.

The election tomorrow is due to the election of former Rep. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt's election as mayor last November.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Morin, president of the firefighter's union, defeated Douglas T. Brown and Mark Chenot in last month's primary.

Morin, who  ran against Baldelli-Hunt in the 2012 primary, had since won the support of both Baldelli-Hunt and Speaker of the House Gordon Fox. Morin said he had made peace with Baldelli-Hunt since the last primary and wants to serve as State Representative to support Mayor Baldelli-Hunt’s agenda to turn the city around.

The polling locations are at Woonsocket Middle School at Hamlet at 60 Florence Drive; John F. Kennedy Manor, 547 Clinton St.; Park View Manor, 218 Pond St.; and Fairmont Heights, 525 Second Ave.

Bring your ID if you plan on voting. Rhode Island's Voter ID laws require that anyone voting must show photo identification or a state-issued voter ID card.
