Teenage Heroin Dealer Caught in Woonsocket After Botched Escape, Cops Say
Woonsocket police this week arrested an alleged heroin dealer after he allegedly tried to run from police.

John A. Garcia, 18, of 193 Arnold St., was charged with heroin possession with intent to distribute.

Police said on Monday, Officer Patrick McGourty pulled over a vehicle for a violation near the CVS on Cass Avenue. Garcia, who was in the passenger seat, jumped out of the vehicle and ran.

Soon after, Det. Sgt. Kevin Greenough pulled over another vehicle and found Garcia in the passenger seat, police said. He allegedly had 17 bags of heroin and $4,500 in cash in the vehicle.

Police charged the driver, Alexis Cartagena, 27, of Arnold St., with heroin possession with intent to distribute.

Police also charged the driver of the vehicle pulled over near CVS—Myles Connor—with driving an unregistered vehicle and operating with evidence of insurance.
