Summerville High principal reported to leave for Pennsylvania high school; district received notice of Chapel's resignation.

Update: Chapel Leaves Summerville High

After only a year at the post, Summerville High Principal Buddy Chapel will leave for a school in Pennsylvania at the end of this year, according to Public Opinion Online.

Chapel recently made headlines when he took down his mounted animal heads in response to student complaints

According to Public Opinion Online, the Chambersburg Area school board voted 9-0 to approve Chapel as the next principal of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He starts during the 2012-2013 school year, according to the website.

Chapel has not been reached for comment.

Dorchester County School District Two spokeswoman Pat Raynor said the district knew Chapel was exploring other jobs, but has not received notice of him leaving his current position prior to her conversation with Patch Thursday afternoon. 

According to a district statement released Friday morning:

Mr. Buddy Chapel, principal at Summerville High School in Dorchester School District Two, has submitted his resignation to assume the position of Principal of Chambersburg Senior High School in Chambersburg Area School District in Pennsylvania beginning with the 2012-2013 school year. Mr. Chapel has served as principal at Summerville High School for 2011-2012.

Superintendent Joe Pye said that the district wishes Mr. Chapel well with this new opportunity. The school district will begin the process of finding a new principal for Summerville High School as soon as possible.
