Weekend Planner: Grease is the Word and Caring Carnival

What are your plans this weekend?

Weekend Planner: Grease is the Word and Caring Carnival
Not sure what to do this weekend? Here are a few things happening in the Summerville area:

A Caring Carnival

A "Caring Carnival" to benefit a couple badly injured in  a wreck with fleeing bank robbery suspects is set for 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Beech Hill Elementary.

Lois and Julius Campbell are fixtures in the Summerville community. Julius is the head cook at Oscar's Place, and Lois is the custodian of Beech Hill Elementary.  On July 1, they were struck by suspects attempting to evade capture, causing serious injuries

All money raised at the Caring Carnival will provide financial support to the Campbells on their road to recovery. The carnival features games, jump castles, face painting, balloon animals, bake sale, cake walks, petting zoo, pony rides, a silent auction, raffles, food and more.

'Grease' is the Word

The Flowertown Players are proud to present "GREASE", book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. “GREASE” is the 1950’s rock-n-roll spirited musical complete with gum chewing, hubcap stealing, hot rod loving boys and their wise cracking, bobby sox wearing girls.  Under the direction of Monica Shows, Director and Kevin Thorn, Musical Director, the characters come alive with local actors from the surrounding tri-county area.  Filled with memorable musical hits including “You’re the One That I Want”, “Greased Lightning” and “Beauty School Dropout”.

“GREASE” will be performed August 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, & 17 at 8 p.m. and August 4, 11, & 18 at 3 p.m. in the James F. Dean Community Theatre.   Admission is $25.00 for adults and may be purchased at the Box Office, 133 South Main Street, Summerville, SC, Wed-Sat, 12-6 p.m. in person or by phone 843 875 9251.  Tickets may also be purchased online at  HYPERLINK " http://www.flowertownplayers.org" www.flowertownplayers.org.

Coming to opening night?  Then come dressed in your best 50’s attire or a color combination of black, white, and pink.  Vintage cars will be parked out front to carry the 1950’s feel from curb to performance as well as a photographer to capture that “Magic Moment”.

Enjoy a night of foot tapping music, amazing dancing, and witty humor.
