Annual Wing Night Returns to Weaver Cave Preserve Aug. 7 (calhounjournal.com) — Anniston-area nature lovers can reserve a free spot now for Wing Night at Weaver Cave Preserve on August 7, where thousands of endangered gray bats emerge at dusk. Hosted by the Georgia-Alabama Land Trust, the evening includes refreshments, an educational talk, and staff-directed parking, with donations welcomed to support conservation work.

Four New Calhoun County Deputies Earn APOSTC Certification (weisradio.com) — Four new deputies have joined the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office after completing intensive APOSTC training through the Northeast Alabama Law Enforcement Academy, based on Jacksonville State’s Anniston campus. Their certification follows 14 weeks of classroom, physical, and practical instruction that prepares them to serve residents across Anniston and the rest of the county.
