• Dispute over money leads to deadly shooting in Bessemer, police say (wbrc.com) — Bessemer police say a 46-year-old man was found shot in a vehicle on Browning Road early July 5 and later died at UAB Medical West. Witnesses identified a 57-year-old man as the suspect, who was arrested and is being held in Bessemer City Jail. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a money dispute and see no ongoing public threat.

'Rick' Pierce (1950-2026) (knoxky.com) — Family and friends are remembering Edwin R. “Rick” Pierce, born in Bessemer in 1950, who passed away Friday at his home in Girdler at age 75. The obituary reflects on his work, union membership, love of woodworking and family game nights, and the relatives who survive him. No services are planned at this time, according to Knox Funeral Home.
