• Coroner identifies Phenix City bicycle rider struck and killed (nowgeorgia.com) — A 49-year-old man riding his bicycle near 13th Place in Phenix City was struck by a vehicle late Thursday night and died at the scene from his injuries, according to the Russell County coroner. The victim, identified as Eddie Jessie, has been sent for autopsy, and Phenix City Police are investigating whether any charges will be filed. No witnesses have been identified so far.

• Georgia mother charged with felony murder, human trafficking in daughter's death (wavy.com) — Law enforcement in Phenix City and Columbus are pursuing capital and felony murder, human trafficking, and related charges in the death of 5-year-old Kamarie Holland, whose body was found in a vacant Phenix City home. The child’s mother, Kristy Siple, and Jeremy Williams are both jailed without bond as Russell County authorities continue building cases and enforcing gag orders to protect future trials.

• Here's when the Little League World Series begins and when Pa.'s team plays (pennlive.com) — Phenix City’s Little League team will take the national stage Wednesday in South Williamsport, facing Tacoma, Washington, in a 3 p.m. opening-round World Series matchup. The Southeast champions feature standout pitcher and shortstop Kinley Rasmus, who threw a regional championship shutout, as they join 19 other U.S. and international teams chasing the title later this month.
