1. Two Arkansas students discussing alternative education in D.C. (kark.com) — Two Archer Learning Center students from Springdale are headed to Baltimore and Washington, D.C., to share how alternative education has shaped their lives. They’ll join just 11 other students nationwide at a major conference and then speak with federal officials, highlighting Springdale’s role in national conversations about nontraditional schooling.
   

2. 8 Arkansas Fall Festivals Worth Planning An October Road Trip For In 2026 (takingthekids.com) — One of Arkansas’s biggest indoor fall craft festivals is set for October 16–17 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center on South 48th Street in Springdale, giving locals easy access to hundreds of makers. The guide also spotlights other October festivals statewide, from blues in Helena to goats in Perryville and the Arkansas State Fair. It’s a handy roadmap if you’re planning autumn road trips from Springdale.
   

3. Square 2 Square Bike Ride returns to Northwest Arkansas after three years (nwaonline.com) — A major regional bike ride is rolling through downtown Springdale on October 3 as cyclists travel the 30-mile Razorback Greenway from Fayetteville to Bentonville. Riders can stop in Springdale and other towns along the way before finishing with a downtown Bentonville celebration. Registration, which includes swag and optional shuttle service, is open through September 30.
   

4. Man accused of sexually assaulting two minors held in Benton County on $100k bond (nwahomepage.com) — Springdale police arrested a 54-year-old man earlier this month on two counts of second-degree sexual assault involving minors, and he’s now being held in Benton County on a $100,000 bond. Investigators say the alleged abuse happened multiple times, and the case is moving to Benton County Circuit Court for an arraignment in late October.
   

5. Fort Smith joins more than 800 districts across country in lawsuit against social media companies (rivervalleydemocratgazette.com) — Springdale is among several Arkansas districts joining a growing national lawsuit accusing major social media companies of designing addictive platforms that harm students’ mental health. While Fort Smith just signed on, Springdale and neighboring districts are already part of the effort, which seeks reimbursement for counseling and lost school time plus court-ordered changes to app features for kids.
