Longmont weighs data center limits, Sundance rental changes (timescall.com) — Longmont’s City Council is moving to ban massive “hyperscale” data centers while crafting stricter rules for smaller facilities to protect local power, water, and neighborhoods. Councilmembers also began debating temporary short-term rental changes for the 2027 Sundance Film Festival, weighing tourism dollars against Longmont’s housing and legal concerns.

Longmont police notes: Criminal trespassing report on Coffman Street (timescall.com) — Longmont police responded Tuesday to a criminal trespassing report on Coffman Street and several other trespassing and disturbance calls across town. Officers issued multiple warnings on Ken Pratt Boulevard, Centennial Drive, and nearby intersections, offering residents a snapshot of recent enforcement activity in their neighborhoods.
   

3. Boulder County Releases 2025 Public Accountability & Services Report (longmontleader.com) — Longmont residents now have an expanded, more accessible county Motor Vehicle office after a full remodel finished in July 2025, highlighted in Boulder County’s new 2025 Public Accountability & Services Report. The report also details increased in-person vehicle transactions, new fraud‑prevention and bilingual materials, and modernization across elections and recording services that Longmont users rely on.
   

4. Good Life Refuge Announces 3rd Annual 'Sanctuary Spectacular' Fundraising Gala (yellowscene.com) — Animal lovers in Longmont are invited to Good Life Refuge’s 3rd Annual Sanctuary Spectacular gala on May 9 at Bestow Events in town. The Longmont-based farm animal sanctuary is planning plant-based dining, live music, and a silent auction to raise funds for food, medical care, shelter, and education programs that serve the local community.
   

5. Man allegedly steals Boulder Fire-Rescue engine right after he was released from jail, police say (denver7.com) — A stolen Boulder Fire-Rescue engine was finally stopped at 1st and Main in downtown Longmont after local police used stop sticks during an overnight chase. Longmont officers then helped Boulder County deputies arrest the suspect, who faces multiple felony charges. No Longmont residents were reported injured, though law enforcement vehicles and the fire engine sustained significant damage.
