County officials urge drivers to never cross floodwater, obey barricades, and plan alternate routes while closures remain in place for public safety. 
• 10/20/26 - 10/21/26 West End Blotter (montrosecountysheriffsoffice.com) — The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office West End logged a mix of fraud, welfare checks, accidents, trespassing, and civil standbys on Oct. 20–21 in Paradox, Naturita, Nucla, and nearby areas. Residents can see where deputies were dispatched, from Main Street traffic issues to neighborhood welfare concerns and citizen assists.
• The world's most expensive spice could provide a lifeline to Colorado farmers (colostate.edu) — Montrose farmers are part of a new Colorado State University project testing saffron as a drought-resistant, high-value crop that could boost late-season farm income. Researchers in Denver and at Chatfield Farms are studying yields, water use, and labor needs, while growers in Montrose, Paonia, and Pueblo will report back on how the bulbs perform in real-world operations.
