• Garden Tales for children slated July 15 at Derby Public Library (blogspot.com) — Families in Derby can bring kids to a Garden Tales storytime at Derby Public Library’s community garden on July 15, with books, songs, and nature-themed fun geared to ages 4 and up. Registration is recommended but walk-ins are welcome while supplies last, and the program will move indoors if it rains.
   

• Waterbury Branch trains to be replaced by buses for nearly a year starting July 20 (stamfordadvocate.com) — Derby-Shelton rail riders face nearly a year of bus-only service starting July 20 as major station upgrades get underway on the Waterbury Branch. The work, part of a $193 million project, coincides with a 5% rail fare hike this week and is expected to wrap up by spring 2028, with officials promising long-term improvements despite short-term inconvenience.
